The pattern construction and panel shapes are recreated with reference to miner trousers from around 150 years ago, restoring the distinctive silhouette of early workwear.

The U-shaped back pockets highlight one of the characteristic design details of the period.

At the waistband and pockets, 13oz Wabash discharge-printed fabric is used as contrast reinforcement.

The fabric is custom-woven in a two-up twill construction.

The idea behind this mismatched paneling is to recreate the rough, improvised character of old workwear—as if a worker had simply used whatever scrap of fabric was available.

It also reflects the irregularity, uncertainty, and occasional production variations found in garments from that era.
